    Thanks to R8Talk Members!

Hey everyone, I'm a noob to this forum but i have been lurking around for the past months, just wanted to say thank you for all the support and answers to my endless questions, i just finalized my order today and it arrives on my birthday no less next month to be picked up.

This is my first audi, i have been a bmw fanatic my whole life but i gone through every M model there is and there is no where higher to go....instead of going to porsche i thought i would bridge the gap of the germans and italians with the r8 until bmw makes a competitor.

I also took it in the ass and ordered the carbon interior parts via audi for a bundling 6k rather than 2500 as an option but I think its worth the interior effect.

First thing I want to do when i get the car are a few mods, your suggestions are always welcome.

    1. Exterior carbon mirrors - anyone have a good source for oem ones?

    2. Black Alacantra headliner, i live in los angeles, lot of shops around here but any tips before getting it done would be appreciated

    3. Extended paddle shifters, i find the paddles too small, where can i purchase something other than the macarbon ones, i would prefer aluminum

Thanks for helping me make a great decision, i can't wait to bring the beast home to join the rest of my fleet

Welcome to the world of R8 ownership and thanks for the compliment (if we are included). We have done a few alcantara headliners, as well as the carbon mirrors, carbon interiors, custom wheels, twin-turbos, superchargers and even complete color changes.

If you're in the LA area, then we're ~1 hour away from you. Feel free to call or come check out our facility. We've always got something interesting going on and love to have visitors...

Go to Rich (OEMPlus) for the mirror pods (he's installing them on mine in the next couple of weeks) and the Alcantera headliner. I've seen his work and you can't tell if it was installed at the factory or if it was an aftermarket install.

Rich is also quite the character - most enjoyable individual.

sounds familiar - you'll spot quite a few people here who jumped ship from m's.

it is striking how bmw has nothing remotely comparable to the r8 despite its success for the audi brand.

    Re: Thanks to R8Talk Members!

Glad to have helped. There are some options on parts:

    1. Exterior carbon mirrors - anyone have a good source for oem ones?
The factory units are available and very nice, rather pricey at $2144.00 pair. As a side option I've had really good luck with the CF Pro units which are becoming a bit more popular thanks to the pricing. You can get them with a carbon fiber lower bridge piece for $849.00 or without the bridge pieces for $639.00. The quality is very high on the CF Pro pieces, though they generally take 3-4 weeks to have units produced, sometimes they have them in stock. They are doing 2 sets for me right now, but they are spoken for.

    2. Black Alacantra headliner, i live in los angeles, lot of shops around here but any tips before getting it done would be appreciated.
There is obviously the factory option on the headliner, unless you wanted to go custom route. Likely the best way to go is factory and I can offer that as well shipped to any shop of your choosing for the installation, $3496.00.

    3. Extended paddle shifters, i find the paddles too small, where can i purchase something other than the macarbon ones, i would prefer aluminum
Looks like Vivid Racing has something more akin to what you might want:
