Just got 2010 V8 R8

Just took delivery of 2010 Silver with CF blades, polished wheels, black interior. I love it, but I noticed it doesn't have the CD changer, only the Ipod interface and SD cards?

Also, what particular mods should I focus on next?

- Built-in radar detector?
- Carbon Fiber center console?

Any other must-have upgrades?

If you have the Carbon Sigma interior package I would do the radio surround in CF as it balances the interior better IMHO.

The Ipod option is best IMO, i think you can still play CDs as there is a cd disc slot behind the nav screen, i may stand corrected here but i think it plays cds, can anyone confirm this?

If you want to add carbon then Ianerrid is the man, take a look at his threads, i have never seen a car more carboned!

First upgrade for me is always exhaust, I recommend Stasis. Get so many compliments on it on every drive. Also steering wheel, Not only does my Carbon Fiber PPI wheel look great but it makes car more fun to drive with it's fat grip

I concur with the exhaust. I had the STaSIS installed on my V10 and it really changes the character of the car (in a good, subtle, not so obnoxious kind of way). The stock exhaust is perfectly acceptable but your life will be better if you upgrade.

Forget the mods for now. Just drive it and have fun putting on a few thousand miles. After that, the mods you want might come to you more naturally.

I've got to agree, go with a Stasis exhaust. I recently had one installed and it does add to the car's presence. I've also gotten numerous compliments on how good the car sounds.

You will probably get the most enjoyment out of an exhaust immediately. Unleashing a bit more sound out of an R8 really does make it even more special, a few added ponies never hurt either. Congrats on the new R8!

Get the built-in radar detector for sure.

I had an Escort 9500ci installed in my car the day after I picked it up to drive it from Chicago to Naples. It was the first time I've done that drive without a ticket.

The laser shifter activated four times on the trip, including in Tifton, Georgia -- a notorious speed trap where I got a $700 ticket three years ago for doing 82 in a 70 zone. (Georgia now adds $200 to any ticket issued by local police, so that would now have been a $900 ticket.)

I really had no idea how much lidar was out there. Although I've been caught by it a couple of times, the number of signals I picked up on this trip would indicate that it's tricky for the police to get a good reading. I had read that a few times but didn't quite believe it.

Anyway . . . it will be money well spent, especially in a car like the R8, which is very difficult to hold at the speed limit without constant attention.
