iphone/MMI interface

I have a 2009 R8 and lately I have been having issues with my 3G Iphone and the MMI interface. I was wondering if anyone else is having a similar problem. Lately, when I connect via bluetooth, my phonebook is displayed on the MMI screen. However, when I try to dial a number from it, the system is unable and disconnects. However, if I manually enter numbers or dial them on my Iphone the call can be completed and the bluetooth connection works fine. Is this a problem with my MMI or is everyone else experiencing the same thing??

Could it be the way your numbers are stored in the iPhone? I enter area codes for all my contacts because I travel a lot and am frequently away from my local network. They worked fine for me.

I have a 2010 R8 and have had this same issue with the updated MMI and two iPhone 3Gs units. Audi ignores me and blames Apple. Apple listens, but blames Audi. I'm sure it's a simple software fix, but Audi won't help. I've had my R8 in the shop three times for this issue. They act like it's my problem. I feel for you.

The numbers are stored with the area codes. The problem I believe is one of the MMI interface as it used to work but no longer does. I was trying to get a feel for the number of people that are having the problem. If it works for some and not others than my guess is that it is a software bug in the MMI. Otherwise, it would not work for anyone. Has anyone thought about a class action lawsuit against Audi???

Have you tried clearing your call history on the phone? This has solved phonebook problems for several of us. (The problem will reoccur once the history gets long again.)

(I'd like to credit this to the appropriate member, but don't remember who discovered and first posted about it.)

It's a different issue than that, Desperado. Mine never worked from the time I left the showroom, with or without a full call log.

I cleared my call history, unpaired the phone and repaired it. The numbers show up in the phonebook but I still can't use them to dial a number.

mgrubman -- check my contributions to this thread (below) to see if your problem is similar to mine. By the way, the iPhone version 4.0 software fixed the loud ringer on my 3Gs.

Audi's response to my issue has been the virtual middle finger.

It is exactly the same problem when trying to dial from phone book it displays number and then disconnects. I would believe Audi however, the 1st few months I had the car it worked fine so I believe it is a software glitch in the MMI and not an incompatibility issue otherwise it would never have worked in the 1st place.
Updating to the new Iphone software did not change anything. My brother has 2009 A4 with the new MMI software and his Iphone works seemlessly with it, phonebook dialing and all.

I really believe we should get together and consider a class action lawsuit..
