Creaking dash

I went for a long drive yesterday and noticed occasional creaking noises from the dashboard. It's pretty consistent if the road is uneven. Has anyone else had problems with this? The car is a 2009 V8 with 13K miles.

Once upon a time I had a little squeak in my dash. People I spoke with suggested NOT taking things apart to try to fix it, for the fear of introducing further squeaks. Still, it was annoying and I considered doing something about it.

Fortunately, after a two day track event the squeak disappeared and has not returned. Yeah! (YMMV)

This is JUST the encouragement I need to go to another track day - I am vacationing in Napa CA and I think Sonoma is nearby.... ;-)

I too thought I had a creak in my dash, but it turned out to be an issue with the center brake light, which was replaced twice. You might ask your dealer to check into that -- it's a known issue.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. Tracking the car sounds like the most fun solution, but the car is at the dealer this morning. Hopefully they "track" it down.

Yes the center brake light can cause noises thruout the car.Replaced twice . Needs repair again. Tomorrow I'm trying a different dealer.

MV Audi is trying to track down the creaking, no luck yet..........

As MV Audi dug in to the dashboard they found loose brackets, missing felt strips, missing bolts, etc..... Sounds like the previous owner may have had a radar detector or other electronics in there he wanted removed. When they put it back together they had a few "extra pieces". George at MV Audi has been very helpful in sorting out my options on getting this fixed, even going as far as talking to the Audi dealership where I purchased the car. I'll update you when a solution has been reached.

The saga continues. I purchased my car used from Audi Escondido. They show nothing in the service records indicating the dash had been worked on. According to Audi Mission Viejo none of this work will be covered under warranty per Audi of America since it seems someone was in there moving/removing things. Should I contact AoA and try to get this paid for since I purchased the car from an Audi dealer or should I take my medicine and pay out of pocket? I'm feeling kind of taken by Audi Escondido.
