    New with problems

Just thought I would post a picture of my new R8. It is the only one that I have seen with the quartz grey and metallic black combo. Kinda like the look, would be interested to hear others thoughts.
Did have a few problems though with the first drives. After waiting 6 months for the car to come in (a 2010 V8 R8), I took it for the first drive from the dealer. Not more than 1 minute after I left the lot, the EPC and check engine lights both came on. I took the car back the next day (dealer is long established Audi dealer just outside Philadelphia). I left the car with them for 5 more days, and said do not return until you are sure that the problem has been fixed. They told me there was a fault on the exaust manifold, and that replacing the solenoid would fix it. Upon picking up my car for the second time, the same lights came on 30 seconds after leaving the lot. They assurred me that they test drove the car and this did not happen to them. After yet another go around on this new car, they discovered that a intake vacuum hose had become disconected. This has seemed to fix problem, as it has not recurred in the last 500 miles or so.

    My questions are this:
Should this not have been caught the first time?
Has anyone else had a similar experience?
How can I be sure there is nothing else that has yet to be detected?

Also has anyone out there been able to achieve full functionality with the iphone 4 and the R8. I can not seem to get the phone book to load correctly.

Sorry having a bit of a problem posting pics. Will attempt later.

They are human and on occasion things get missed. Often there's a lack of any sort of experience w/the R8 (from the service person) other than the school courses, which from what I understand are pretty much like old college freshmen classes where you sit in an auditorium and watch, not participate.

You can't! The car will let you know, listen to it.

Here's a thread on this issue

One thing - don't listen to the Audi manual about break in. The engine IS BROKEN IN - it spent an hour on a dyno running higher revs than it's able to do in the car before it was ever installed.

Flog it from the time you get in it. Make sure you're easy on it until the OIL temperature is up to operating temp (about 5 miles) and then run it hard. The car needs to have the systems heated up to operating temps and needs to be "blown out", if you will.

There have been a couple people that have had issues w/engines and have flogged the replacement engine and have had better success, less oil consumption and overall a better running/working power plant.

Expect to use a quart in the first 5 to 7K miles. Don't be surprised when it suddenly says "I want oil!" It's all right.

    Once again, enjoy the ride!
