When I buy my next R8 it will be a manual.

Love the interaction on the manual as opposed to the sterile flick of a paddle.

Have one of the fastest and crispest gearboxes in the GT-R and whilst its great on the track its boring on the road.

The R-Tronic is faster at the track (for us mortals) and easier to drive in traffic, while the manual is more involving for those that like them. I have the manual but I think I would be happy with either. The manual and clutch is as good as I have ever experienced, but I just know I am going to miss a 2-3 shift when I get her on the track. That gate takes a little getting used to.

I like both methods. I love the MT on my R8, but the PDK on the 911 is great fun.

    No wrong answer here.

Manual all the way! Nothing better than the clack clack of shifting. I agree with the 2-3 shift; it is a little tricky, but you get used to it shifting quickly.

    Tonyswfla,

Do you want to expand a bit, why are you having difficulty deciding, what do you want from your driving experience, and where do you intend to do your driving (urban v track etc)? A more considered question may illicit a more considered response.

I have the V10 MT, drove a V8 Flappy Paddle. I will stay with the MT, daily and track driven.

+1 on the MT6. I took delivery of my MT6 and dove it home at night, in a light rain. My biggest concern was that the cabin is so dark I couldn't see the gates & shifter (manual is not lighted) to tell what gear I was in or where I was going. I decided to let the force be with me and it just happened. You can shift that puppy from 1-6 and 6-1 with your eyes closed. The gears really fall into place by themselves. Not initially, but you'll get it.

I am always concerned about the 5/4 v 5/2 downshift in my 550i Sport...I do not have that concern in the R8 d/t the gates....
