    Problem with vents in Dash

Hey all, I am sure a few of you have read my recent posts about my clutch replacement saga...well the other problem Audi is fixing is a "broken flap motor". When I changed the vent setting to feet level to say middle you hear a plastic cracking sound. I was told to access and repair the broken flap motor they would need to remove the dash. I am less than thrilled about them taking out the dash in fear of it not being put back perfect and noises...I have made a big stink with Audi corporate about how unhappy I am with a 1.5 year old car that needs a new clutch and has to have the dash board removed.

Any suggestions on how to handle?

If I dont have them remove the dash? How can I have an R8 with a cracking sounding AC vent system?

PS. Have been driving an A4 loaner for the past 3 weeks which compared to the R8 feels like a tin can......

Let Audi remove the dash. While it's an involved process, if the tech is savvy enough, there shouldn't be an issue other than some swearing while removing parts. The radio surround is probably the physically hardest item to remove - lots of tabs & clips. The rest of it is pretty much unbolt, unsnap.

The car's designed in such a manner that it goes back together very well and the worries and issues of having some demon rattle/squeak show up from the work are really a fairly moot point.

If you're that worried about it, bring it down to Cincinnati and I can recommend a tech that's done the work before and knows what's involved.

well, worst case, if they breaked any clips, as long as you are a great guy to deal with, they would definitely put the parts back with new clips for you. Don't make a big deal with them or else, I'm sure a few clips from your car would stay broken on its way back and that would be the source of noise to drive you crazy down the road.
