Question about Nav and Music Interface on 2011 V10

    Hello everyone,

My V10 arrives next month... question, I did not get to order this, someone else did and they got divorced... bummer... So I got it

Anyhow, what I was told by the dealer is that the V10's come with the NAV system as stock. However, in the brochure it indicates that the IPOD adapter or Music Interface is optional.

I asked my dealer about this (because I want it) and they had no clue if it comes with it or it is option.... of if they can even install it.

Does anyone know if it can be installed at the dealer, or does it come with it already?

    Thanks!

Most dealers seem incompentent to do this but R8Talk sponsors Europrice or OEMPLus will be able to help.

Well there is an AMI listed for the latest models and it is R8 specific. Does not require a harness for installation from what I see either, many models do usually. I am surprised your dealership couldn't inquire with their parts department to see about fitment. I personally have no been involved in an R8 AMI install so I don't know if there are any caveats or issues, but according to what I see it just requires the AMI and should just install. May require some coding for operation, but your dealership should be able to prep the car with it when it arrives I would think.

    Good Luck,

The connector for CD-changer and AMI are unfortunately not the same. Wiring is needed. We can provide some or all parts needed...

My dealer was really unclear about all this, but unless the car has a CD changer, I'm inclined to believe it will have the AMI installed. At that point, I believe the only remaining question is whether you need an iPod cable.

Audi's web ordering platform is as confused as their salesmen. Hard to believe they can't spend five minutes somewhere at corporate and sort this out.

Sounds like it's a bit of a pain, but having dug a bit deeper looks like it's doable by changing the plug(s) to suit. Looks like some pins need to be changed and the one CD changer plug gets broken down to two plugs for the AMI. There are likely some finer points to the install since I just glanced at these diagrams and instructions, but a good tech should be able to do the job, maybe...

Here's how to do it. Leave the CD cabling alone - more trouble than it is worth to change....
