Thumbs up In praise of 24R4

This update turned out to be quite a piece of work, including reflashes of the ECU and gear selector along with new gear sensors and related connectors. Then there were some new heat shields between the exhaust system and bumper skin and a check of the exhaust rubber mounts. In rare cases (not mine) there is also some rework of the B&O sound system?

I can't yet feel the difference in anything other than R-Tronic operation. It is so significantly improved that everything else is un-noticeable :-) I thought I was getting very used to the subtleties of the R-T trans, but now my grandmother could drive it smoothly :-) If you drive the R-T and haven't had this done yet you are missing out!

I had mine done (in the UK) last year and couldn't agree more, and posted so at the time...

Does this only apply to R Tronic or 6 MT as well?

I'm not sure ... I think the ECU refinements were in relationship to changes to the programming of the gear selector module as they need to be synced up for obvious reasons?

I believe it was engine and transmission ECU flashes but the biggest impact is on RT smoothness - I had to check they hadn't given me a different car...

I had no complaints about the gearbox pre-24R4, but certainly like it more post-24R4.

Ian hit the nail on the head ...with a ten pound sledge !! The engine matches the transmissions' rev requirements soooo nicely now , after the 24R4 !!

    Re: In praise of 24R4

Has anyone heard of their being an update to 24R4 (a revised 24R4)? Someone mentioned it to me in person the other day, but I haven't been able to confirm this yet from my dealer.
