Order book on R8 Spyder 4.2 FSI officially open

My dealer contacted me today to let me know that the order book is officially open with the first cars being delivered to the UK in Jan 2011.

    This additional info was supplied:

    Prices

The R8 V8 Spyder will retail at £8,680 more than the R8 V8 Coupe, and £19,325 less than the R8 V10 Spyder.

R8 Spyder 4.2 FSI quattro manual
    £93,950 RRP (20% VAT)
    £95,545 OTR (20% VAT)

    R8 Spyder 4.2 FSI quattro R tronic
    £99,260 RRP (20% VAT)
    £100,855 OTR (20% VAT)

The premium for the R tronic transmission is £5,310 RRP, including 20 per cent VAT.

    Specification

The V8 Spyder standard specification is based on the V8 Coupe but has additional equipment:

    Wind deflector
Fully-automatic acoustic hood, with one-touch operation
    Electrically-retractable, heated glass rear window
    Electrically-adjustable seats
Mobile telephone preparation – Bluetoothinterface with integrated seat-belt microphones
    Metallic paint
    Heated seats

The price premium less the cost of equipment shown in bold above is £6,395.

Good value i think, odd they did it the other way round than the coupe, had they done the V8 first i still think i would have waited for the V10, then again, knowing myself i would have had the V8 and swopped for the V10! but not the other way round so i think Audi may have lost out here, anyway, roll on the GT!

I think by looking at the standard options, i could spec a v8 108k plus.

    So I'll have a v10 instead....

    I'm going to hold-out for a RS5 Cab 7 speed S-tronic.

    4 seats more girls !!!

I believe the audi auto gearboxes are all moving towards 7 speed throughout the range, is this true for the R8 R-tronic ?
