    Autocar Review of the GT

Hope this is not a repost as I'm a little behind on my reading at the moment!!!

    http://www.autocar.co.uk/CarReviews/...V10-GT/252857/

Even this most hardcore R8 still seems to lack something, though: that ultimate purist’s sense of occasion, perhaps. It doesn’t have the really hardcore dynamic temperament of a truly focussed circuit special like a Porsche 911 GT3 RS. It’s almost too easy to exploit on the limit; too approachable. Some would say that it doesn’t offer enough of a challenge to really accomplished drivers.

But then again, if those are the biggest criticisms we can level at the R8 GT, Audi can surely consider it a roaring success. It is a very fast and capable circuit car with handling that’s at once immediately responsive and yet still flattering and benign. Few other cars like it offer up their performance abilities so squarely and unequivocally.

I'm sure it will be awesome.

Just count yourself lucky you are not in my position..... trying to buy a new house/plot of land and renting a house with a garage that cannot fit a car. So want to get into a Spyder but just do not want it left on the drive all the time - especially with winter approaching

Your trip to the Ring may also alleviate any negative thoughts too!

I'm debating it. Price isn't finalized in the US so I'm waiting to heer base price and spec before I order it. It's looking like it's overpriced to me so far.

The sheet released to the dealer says under 225 US.

I don't think that's a great price and I have a feeling that if it's base price, then it will include stuff that I wouldn't normally want.

I'll finally say it: it's too much for an Audi. The appeal of the R8 was not just the design, but that it was an amazing car, perhaps a bit underpowered, but an amazing car at a good price. At $225K the value is being diminished.

At 250K Euro I could just buy a GT3 LMS.

Interesting thoughts on price. I pulled the trigger and bought in part because it wasn't quiite Ferrari or Lambo money. Call it the poor man's super car, but I was thrilled to get out the door under $200k all in.
