101% no GT for me. Gave contract back

Last week i had the chance to test the GT....result ....very disappointing....apart from the looks.
....and not worth the money.

The car has less power then my ABT 600 HP version and the race complete exhaust including collectors.

Here is a sound file and you see as well how low the car is now.

as you see we had to go quite far away from the car as otherwise the camera would not record the sound correct.

The suspension is still a compromise....check my picture ( H&R race suspension fully adjustable )

In a direct comparison the car ist only 70 KG light then my R8 V10 and in November we mount the rear wing of the GT and Sparco S-light (-4kg each) the full roll-bar including the belts will be added to.

Even the Audi boys during the event and after having a ride with mine said ....DON'T CHANGE .

This morning i gave my contract back.....

From all the models ( 15 ) reserved to switzerland , only 6 have been ordered all other " awarded " owners have not ordered the car.
Most of them are V10 or Spyder owners.

i was just wondering what ABT does to the car to get 600HP? Is it just ECU, and exhaust?

Tuning company here offers tuning kits for both the V8 and V10

V10 is offered with 600hp.

very simple....the car is restricted to 525 HP, the Butterfly valves are close to 60% above 6800 rpm, that mean the engine is getting a max of 40% air.
After you adjust the butterflies the engine has 560 HP....now for this standard base engine ABT modifies the software by approx 7% and add's a exhaust...VOILA.....in my case we have removed the ABT exhaust and replaced the exhaust with a full system including collector and exhaust....as you can hear.

Hey Ti-mike. Thanks for the input. Your car looks and sounds fantastique. I also realize that the newer GT model will not really be a significant improvement over my current R8. I have not quite your 600 HP, but very close with the amazing VF/StaSiS supercharger system. ( As you can see in the photo, I am still trying to find ways to add more horses to my R8!) And as you can see, my suspension has also gone the way for better track performance.

Love the sound of your exhaust. It sounds very much like a STaSiS with its higher pitch hi-rev sound. Most other R8 exhaust systems go with that very low rumple growl sound like an American muscle car. Like you, I would rather have the higher pitch sounding competition exhaust.

You will find the switch to race seats MOST enjoyable indeed when on the track. Its amazing how much LESS dramatic everything becomes with proper track seating. The seats that are provided OEM by Audi in the USA, are in NO way, adequate for real hi performance track driving.

Hi Ti-Mike,

I gave back my contract some 3 weeks ago. Same reason, like the looks but was disappointed with the rest, waiting for the 2wd successor.

And like in Switzerland there seem to be a bunch of awarded owners in Germany who have not stepped into their contracts whatever reason for. I am curious to see how the prices will drop after they have been delivered to speculative buyers but it probably won't become a value keeper.
