Hello. I just joined from sunny San Diego, California. I have been considering an R8 since they came out (other options were a Lambo Gallardo or a Aston AMV8).
I drove an RS4 for 3 years and loved it and my wife loves her Q7 (I had always been a BMW (7) or Mercedes (4) guy before I bought those 2 cars). Then I took the R8 Driving Experience at Infineon earlier this year in the V10's and discovered 2 things. (i) I had to have an R8 (well it became my first choice anyway) and (ii) it had to be a V8 and not a V10. I loved the engine in my RS4 and the V10 felt, well, too smooth. I like the feeling of being in a fighter jet and did not get that from the V10. I did from the V8 and I have now had that engine in an R8 for a week. I just love the car and having owned numerous M cars, AMG cars, Ferrari's, and Aston Martin, I have to say this thing is in a class by itself.
Still getting used to driving it, but it sure is a whole lot of fun. It is black on black with all the usual options and an R Tronic tranny. It is a nice addition to my stable and will be driven every week.
Below are a few pics. It is keeping my Ferrari's spot warm whilst it is in the shop and then will take the place of the GT, which will get bumped to my other garage.
