    How is the GT exhaust?

    Now that several have heard the car along side the stock V10, how does it sound?

    Random video I've seen with at least some idea of what the exhaust sounds like:

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOVi5aWL4nc"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOVi5aWL4nc[/ame]

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpy8VIoVzKQ"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpy8VIoVzKQ[/ame]

    Official video:

    Not sure on weight of the GT exhaust as of yet. Pricing is out however it is an exchange part, meaning you are meant to return an old unit back however since no one has a GT exhaust to return you have to pay the core charge.

    Cheers,

    I believe Colin said he was pretty underwhelmed. He said it sounded different, but some problem with EU noise restrictions kept it tame. He posted this video before...

    Ya, a little different at best from what I can tell. But, if they would take the std. V10 exhaust as a core and it was more efficient and lighter, I would probably bite.

    A core on an exhaust?! That's new.

    There is a lot of stainless steel, as well as at least two catalytic converters inside.

    Has anyone experimented with opening the muffler and removing the catalytic converters and then re-welding the unit. This sort of mod is popular in Europe with the Porsche crowd.

    All catalytics through Audi are now exchange and since there are catalytic converters inside of the R8 exhausts they want a core back. Generally they want the exact unit you purchased back. I assume they reclaim or reuse components.

    Does the Miltek have cats inside? ..and why are some aftermarket exhausts referred to as Cat-back?? Thanks for bringing it to my attention that the catalytic convertors are INSIDE the cannister !!

    Cat back means that the system is from the end of the catalytic convert on back to the exhaust tips. Not from the end of the head pipes back.

    The cat usually sits a foot or so off the end of the header pipe flange.
