Escort 9500ci Installation

Just had a Escort 9500ci installed in my R8. See the install pictures below, we came up with some good spots to install everything (sorry for the car being so dirty). One area where we were having issues is where to install the rear jammer/detector. We decided to put it at the top of the engine bay. It is a simple install point and according to Escort, there should not be any issues with functionality except in heavy rain.

Falcon-very very nice installation! thanks for sharing. Location of rear laser jammer on top of engine bay is very clever, looks integrated, matches the center brake light on top.

Like the rear install - I just did mine and have the black bar on the license plate (which doesnt look good.) I inquired about alternative locations for the rear, but was told need to be as near the rear plate as possible as thats where the police typically will aim the laser.

We talked to Escort about that, and they said because of the setup of our car is and how low it is, really a cop would have a hard time aiming just for the license plate. In addition, if you notice the receiver is only about 5.5 inches above the Audi logo on the back.... it really is not sitting that high. The only degradation Escort said is if it is raining very hard...

I was trying to find a place that was easy to install and they did not have to take apart the car. They were looking at the rear diffuser (down below the license plate) however that would require removing the entire rear bumper (not something that I wanted).

Very good, I may look into moving mine as I really dont like the position of mine on the rear plate. Because of the rear camera, it requires the unit to be mounted lower so it is more obvious. I know it works, though, as I get hits from the back shifter pretty frequently on the highway.

How do you know that you get hits from the back shifter? Do you also have the 9500ci?
