Loose handbrake and noise from gearbox

Hi guys, I noticed when my handbrake is up the leaver slidies up and down to cover the silver button. Is this normal or is my handbrake cover loose?

Secondly, when warm I can hear a knock (happens ever 3 seconds) front the ceneter transmission tunnel area, any idea?

It sounds like the clip that holds the hand brake in has let go of it's little purchase. Try pulling the brake lever up (setting the brake) and then pushing the cover down the handle's body. There should be a very faint click.

There's a good chance that the metal tab that holds everything in place has come loose from the inside of the hand brake's cover. If that's the case, see if Rich at OEM still has my stocker (I think I left it there). If so, see if he'll send it your way.

Would you mind updating your profile and adding your location? It can help out with differences among our wonderful cars due to market locations.

Is it a knock, or a tick, if it is a tick it is just the fuel pump and is normal.

Re: Loose handbrake and noise from gearbox

i guys, took it to Audi today and the handbrake clip seems to be broken, so they ordered a new piece. The noise is more like that of a loud drip. When they turned off the climate control completley the noise dissapered, and when I turned it back on it came. He gave me some story about some flap system (sounded nonsense) but turning off the climate system completly gets rid of it. Opinions?

Lastly, noticed on 3 occasions today when I put the foot down in 3rd I get this strange loss of power and after a second the power quicks back in. Anyone experianced it? Had the car for a month and it is the first time this has happened!

The surge in 3rd - there's a post about it. 2800 (I think) RPM, then step on it and it'll bog for a moment.

Never noticed that but do notice something similar since supercharger install. In higher gears on highway when I punch it sometimes I feel a blip of power loss before car rockets forward. Never drove a forced induction car before and have heard about turbo lag, Does a supercharger do the same thing?

There's no such thing as supercharger lag. Unless there's a restrictor in the vacuum bypass assembly, boost comes on as fast as you can push the peddle. It sounds to me as if the fuel is coming in a tick late. Adding a supercharger to a normally aspirated engine requires very precise calibration.

The problem centers around the fact the engine's sensor package is not expecting pressure in the inlet manifold. Normally, there's only vacuum. Also, the increased airflow can fall outside expected parameters, also causing problems. It is necessary to either trick the ECU into thinking all is well, when in fact crazy unexpected things are happening, or reflash the computer with fuel and timing maps appropriate to boost.

Either way, properly fueling an aftermarket supercharger installation is one of the toughest tuning tasks you can imagine. Kudos to the folks who pull it off.

Would think the stasis software would tune to the supercharger. Have only been on highway twice since install and plan on going for a good ride and play around, Not sure if i'm firmly planted on pedal and maybe when car starts taking off foot might pull back for an instant? Other thing I plan on doing is shutting off traction control.
