    Steering wheel R8 badge

Does anyone know why some 2011 R8's have the R8 logo at the bottom of the steering wheel and some don't?

    I've got a new 2011 R8 Spyder, and mine doesn't have it .. but I saw a picture of a Daytona Grey 2011 R8 Spyder that does ...

It doesn't appear to be tied to any particular option as various pictures on the internet show them on manuals and R-tronics.

Anyone know if maybe Audi just changed the steering wheel mid-year of production?

Might help to put your location in the upper right hand corner of your information.
My guess would be one may be U.S. car, and the other European? So many differences between the two it seems.

    Re: Steering wheel R8 badge

Only the "sport" steering wheels come with the R8 badge. This is the thicker and more contoured steering wheel than the standard unit:

    R8 V10 Sport Steering Wheel

    R8 V10 Sport Steering Wheel (w/ paddles)

This is a nice quick upgrade to the standard R8 steering wheel as it can use your current airbag and is considerably thicker than the standard steering wheel.

This, I believe is a regular wheel for comparison.

    Re: Steering wheel R8 badge

Here's a good way to compare. This way you can see them in a photo of the same size.

    R8 "Sport" Steering Wheel:

TT S-Line Steering Wheel (identical shape and design to the standard R8 steering wheel):

There is a very noticeable difference in thickness between the two when held. Up until 2010 the sport steering wheel was no available on any model and it showed up eventually on the spyder first and now seems to be an option in some orders.

Waiting for an R8 GT steering wheel to arrive shortly here as well, another to add to the list of options!

Odd that this isn't a standard feature... nor is it a selectable option when you configure the car (at least, it wasn't when I ordered mine).

Anyone know what the cost is for the Sport wheel, if one wanted to change it?

    Re: Steering wheel R8 badge

I can happily help if needed:

    R8 V10 Multi-Function Steering Wheel (w/o paddles) - $849.00 each

    R8 V10 Multi-Function Steering Wheel (w/ alu paddles) - $949.00 each

You reuse your current airbag and need only the steering wheel. The steering wheel comes with the multi-function controls and the R8 badge. Units are available directly out of Europe for a 2-3 week delivery time at present.

There are also other options for those looking to change their steering wheel. There are the GT steering wheels which are alcantara wrapped. There are the TTRS units, with or without paddles, which feature full air leather and silver stitching. All steering wheels can be badged with the R8 badge or have the badging removed entirely.

The TTRS has been very popular in other models and is also the thicker design:

Note the full air leather and silver stitching, some prefer this to the partial air leather on the sides and smooth leather top and bottom. The TTRS can come with or without shift paddles. I can also source these if anyone is interested in going full air leather. The TTRS badge can obviously be removed and replaced with an R8 or no badge at all. Can customize just what you need.

Also if interested there are also even carbon aftermarket pieces which be can be added.

If anyone is interested or wants to spec out a steering wheel and needs pricing do let me know through PM or email: contact@europrice.us
