It really is a daily driver super car

Now I bought my R8 to be a daily driver supercar. I wanted a supercar experience as close to that of my Ferrari as I could find with the daily driver comfort level and reliablity of my RS4. After 1.5 months ownership, I must say this car is truly a daily driver supercar.

On the one hand it is like a race car. I was on a 2 lane each direction very twisty downhill road the other day when a Porsche Carrerra 4S got tight on my six and then sqeezed around me. Annoyed at how close he got I decided to dance with him and 1 mile later I had pulled well clear through the twisties and he was far behind, 3 football fields behind. At the bottom I saw a wide and deep pothole and I was going too fast to swerve safetly so I hit it with my left tire. Were I in my Ferrari, I would have blown the suspension and probably been stranded. I thought that is what happed to my R8, but nope. I slowed down and took my hand off the wheel as the road straigtened and not even the alignment was off. Seems like I did not even pop a bushing. After that still drove perfect. The Carrera caught up with me and proceeded to drive like a lunatic to pulll away and I decided to comfortably stay "safely" behind him to demonstrate that he could not loose me.

This car is easy to take to the grocery store and park it like any other pony, but it can run like a stallion. It is not tempermental despite behaving like a race car and is solid and not sensitive. I still can't believe I did not damage the suspension. It seems even practical. It truly is a daily driver supercar.

Actually, the ride you gave me felt very civilized...very close to the R8 in comfort too. But in the back of my mind I was always realizing that the 'Vette was rear wheel drive.

Hi all. This is my first post on the forum. Just picked up my 2011 R8 V10 on Wednesday and I must whole-heartedly agree. I was not expecting a daily driver, but have been amazed how civilized a cruiser this is. I traded in an s8 and z06 for this, with maybe a little initial regret. But any regret has been obliterated by this incredible car; I really can't keep the smile off my face.
