SD Card reader problems

I have problems finding an SD card that works in my 2008 R8. took it to dealer with new SD card, they tried it in a 2010 R8 and it plays perfect.
They changed my radio entirely and my SD card still doesn't play. They tried another SD card in my R8 and it plays. They tried my card in an older 2008 R8 and it does not play. The dealer has no idea and said find an SD card that will play.
I have tried three different cards and only one plays ( an old 512MB card).

Same music as other cards, different files, different computers all play any card perfectly,

Very confused and my dealer is not very helpful.

anyone have any ideas.

2008 & 2009 R8s need non-HC SD cards. The non High Capacity versions usually stop at 2GB. There were some nonstandard cards that were larger and not HC, but they are hard to find and may not work.

Visually look at the cards, if you see SDHC they will not work in a 2008 or 2009, unless you update the unit to the newer version.

You can find 4GB non-HC SD cards on Amazon, they are cheap. 4GB x 2 should suffice. If you really need more, just get more cards and swap when needed.

Just make sure the logo/print does not have "HC" anywhere. I'm afraid I can't find the link to the right card, but please PM me if you're unable to find one and I'll try again.

I'm driving a R8 MJ 2009. The 4 GB NON HC SD Cards from Extrememory and Platinum are working fine

Audi will replace a MY 2009 radio with a new one for free?

I don't think so, but if your dealer was not knowledgeable about this issue, and happily changed your NAV unit for another and it didn't work, maybe you can nudge them to replace it with a newer one, they might not know the difference

I've had it in the shop and they already swapped out the radio, but obviously for an older one still. I will nag the service manager all winter and see what he says. Otherwise I will track down some cards and crank the tunes.

Check out current ebay auction 270664624201 (just enter this number into the search field), $7.49 for the card and $1.22 for shipping to a US address.

Looks like exactly the card you need as you will note it has no 'HC' printed anywhere on the front or logo.
