Hi there. Thinking of small mods to go on the R8 such as the air filter. Is it advisable to change and is there any aftermarket ones? Does it make the driving better?

I have the EVOMS intake for the V8 and have been happy with the intake sound and performance especially when tied with the STASIS exhaust
What ever you go with, stay away from oiled gauze filters.

The vast majority of aftermarket air filters will not provide any more power than stock, or maybe a couple ponies, which cannot be measured against a stop watch. Change filters only for looks or some intake noise.
I used to work with a guy who ran a dyno. Most aftermarket filters pulled warm air from under the hood and actually lost power. We used to joke about minimizing power loss with "performance" filters.
ALL of the aftermarket venturi/filter kits come with oiled cotton gauze filters. Just oil them VERY LIGHTLY, IF AT ALL-- after cleaning, and you should be O.K. Did someone mention heated intake ?? NOT with the stock style airbox. \/

Thanks, saw this EVOMS at http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/a...ke-system.html
Is it easy to DIY the air filter? And do you cover the air filter box or just leave the cones naked in the engine bay like in the pictures?
The EVOMS site shows the airbox open only for illustration purposes. If you leave the cover off, it's pretty likely you will lose power compared to stock.
