Spyder owners, rattle behind driver seat?

So I've got just over 1k miles on my 2011 Spyder and I've noticed that there is a very minor rattle/vibration sound that comes from the left side behind the driver between 1,200-1,400 RPMs. Seems that's the sweet spot to get it to occur. It also happens occasionally when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd at low RPMs.

I can't nail down exactly where it's coming from. I don't know if it's in the engine bay, or if it's in the canopy top, but it's really starting to irritate me.

Do any other Spyder owners have this?

My fear is that I'll take it to the dealer to get checked out and they'll say something stupid like "rattles aren't covered under warranty"... BMW pulled this crap on me on my M when it had 5k miles on it, it developed a rattle and they still to this day refuse to fix it. I hope Audi isn't the same way?

Just got mine a few days ago and so far, not a sound anywhere except the banshee howl of the beast behind me! What a sound! I'm loving it. Must be something fixable so I'd take it in, if I were you. That's the nice thing about owning a supercar form a mainstream mfr. - there's one always nearby. I'd considered the F458 and the Gallardo Spyder but the nearest dealer for either is at least 2.5 hours away.

That sounds very familiar to the loose fuel line issue that a few of the '08 V8's had. I happened to get lucky and have a tech that had spent about 6-7 hours searching for the sound in another person's R8 before he went after the rattle in mine. Took him about 5 minutes to fix it.

Hit your dealership up - any good one will find it and fix it under warranty. Being that you're in a Spyder, it may not be the problem, but it's something to have your service tech look for that they may not have considered.

Love the power increase and the open air motoring but I still think I will be going ahead as per plan and ordering a V10 coupe shortly.

The Spyder was always a summer car with a guaranteed buyback.

Miss the shape of the coupe and the exposed engine along with a higher track focus.

I was very lucky and sold both the R8 V8 and GT-R privately within 5 days of advertising and achieved around 20% more than the dealers trade in offers.

I have ordered the new GT-R model and confirmed I will get the first one received by the dealer in early March.

It appears to be a cracker.

Absolute bargain for the performance it promises.

We've had our V10 6MT Spyder for about two months now and no strange events or sounds at all. Just pure love of the car and experience.
I thought our V8 coupe was fantastic. The Spyder is "fantastic'er"!

Have had a slight rattle once with a tall passenger, seemed he had the seat pushed all the way back to the bulkhead, moved the seat on notch and the sound was gone.

I had the same rattle/vibration whatever you want to call it in my 4.2 2009 and it was a fuel line in the tank. Sounds crazy I know, but until you described the same thing I experienced, I had not heard of anyone else with the same problem. It may very well be the same issue that I had. It was covered under warranty too.

I had the same issue of a rattle behind the left side of my head, starting at 600 miles. Mine rattled from 2000 to 8400 rpm. It was also a fuel line, fixed by the dealer last week for free.
