    trunk light

I installed a Battery Tender plug on my battery for trickle charging when not in use and will leave the front bonnet partially open for the cord. Does the trunk light go out after 10 min or so? Otherwise I will need to remove the bulb. I tried out my winter tires, 3D Dunlops the other day on sheer ice and they performed beautifully. It was the semis passing me with salt and sand on the road that worried me the most. Thanks, Will.

I use a battery tender during the winter and you can find a spot to run wire and close trunk enough to shut light off, just don't push it down. Doubt the light shuts off, I know when I forget to shut glove box the light is still on next morning.

I used a battery tender on my 09 and was concerned about the same thing. I checked it one night after an hour or so and it did eventually go out. Not sure how long it stays on.

Yup ... it goes out on its own eventually.

I asked the tech at the dealer and he was going to check into it but never heard from him, but thanks again for the input. Will

It goes out after about 30 minutes. Similar to the radio if you've ever turned that on when the engine is off.

Courtesy of the R8 Owner's Manual,

The light is on the right of the luggage compartment.
The light switches on automatically when the luggage lid is opened.
The luggage compartment light is SWITCHED OFF automatically if the
luggage lid is left open for more than about 10 minutes.
