    First real winter blast

As some of you may know, Europe is covered with snow.

15 cm of fresh powder snow, ice below, new Dunlop 3D winters on 19" wheels, it just keeps on going at insane speeds and incredible grip, up, down, left, right, all the traffic around is crawling, the R8 is racing. vrrrrrroooooooomm!

Some curves can get tricky, but **** it is so much fun!

You're absolutely right. Most of it happened at night and I was not ready for a photo shoot. So I'll try to make some photos in the coming days, we're expecting more snow fall anyway

Political posting is NOT appreciated here.

On a lighter, more fun note:

    Re: First real winter blast

I dare you to drive your R8 into the eye of the storm!

On a related note, this is a bit of old news but interesting nevertheless: "How 16 ships create as much pollution as all the cars in the world"

"As ships get bigger, the pollution is getting worse. The most staggering statistic of all is that just 16 of the world’s largest ships can produce as much lung-clogging sulphur pollution as all the world’s cars. "

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencete...ars-world.html

And then the d*a*m*n politicians have us pay gas guzzler taxes, and much worse (in some parts of Europe and other non US countries) pretending they are helping the environment while in fact it is all about collecting more tax and nothing else.

Even if the figures above are vastly exaggerated, and they are only about sulphur emissions, they are still pretty interesting.

How much gas guzzler taxes do the shipping companies running these supertankers get to pay? Probably nil, and even if they pay something at all, its probably insignificant.

I doubt Bermuda, Nevis or any other island most ships are registered at charge anything more than minimal registration fees.

    Re: First real winter blast

Hello. I'm about to pick up my new but used 2008 R8. living in Maine I'm trying to get some feedback on which winter tires and what size rims. I figure with our potholes the size of moon craters, I'd be happier driving on 18" rims rather than being in the store replacing my 19" rims every 3rd Sunday! Does anyone know if you can even put 18" rims on the R8??? And if so does anyone have some input on good/bad decision etc. Much appreciated for some words of experience.
