Just got a box from Audi-OEM with the facelift badge and illumination for the license plate.
Wondering if anyone here has done the work by themselves?
I will for the first time in my life try to solve this by myself, anyone who knows the best way of removing the current R8 badge and issues to watch out for? I think the new badge I just got has some sort of glue already but not sure, is it just to press and hold for a while? Anyone has some sort of instruction exactly where the badge is located at the back?
What sort of tool do I need to pop the current old license plate bulbs out and what issues might occur?
Tape off all 4 corners of the "R8" so you know exactly where to put the new badge on.
Heat the badge using a heat gun or hairdryer until it's hot to touch and not burning.
Use a dental floss and start separating the double-sided tape between the badge and the paint.
When the badge is removed, you will see a lot of adhesive or goo on the paint.
Heat the goo again and use your fingers to roll them away.
And the end, use a microfiber towel to wipe the area and maybe use some alcohol to clean it too.
Peel the new badge's double-sided tape and stick it back on to where you taped.
All done.
EDIT:
I think the NEW R8 badge is longer than the old one, so the above taping technique might not work. But I am sure both have the identical distance from the headlight, and from the panel edge below the badge. So you can just tape off 2 corners instead of 4.
License plate lights:
A flat screw driver should be able to pry out the clear cover for the license plate lights.
Your 2012 V10 doesn't come with LED license plate lights?
