After many months of effort I found a fault. Cant carry a set of golf clubs if you have a passenger.
This is not marginal here boys. This should be illegal.![]()

Audi says two sets fit on the shelf behind the seats. I wouldn't know, however...

Dont forget the "useful" cupholder :P
I'm already using an inflatable roof rack to carry two snowboards when someone is sitting in the passenger seat.
I've seen the picture showing a set of clubs on the "shelf" behind the seats but it never seemed very realistic or practical.
This limitation was a big consideration before I pulled the trigger since I was going to use the R8 every day and I normally carry my clubs in the trunk all of the time. My solution was to buy an additioinal set of clubs so that I could keep one at my country club and then have another set at my office that I can just toss in the passenger seat when I go play anywhere else. I typically play 2 to 3 times a week during the summer so this was a big deal.

What are these said Golf Clubs that you speak of?
Golf requires nothing more than a) a cart and b) LOTS of alcohol. The stick and ball aspect isn't necessary for a good round of golf. - problem here is that you can't put a cart on the shelf w/o removing the interior of the car. (might be easier with a Spyder).
Throttle Jockey - Because Golf Courses should be Motocross Tracks. (sticker on the back of my truck) If I ever get arrested it will be for taking my motocross bike to the Indian Hill Country Club golf course. The double jumps that I see as I drive by it are SO tempting.

Don't golf so not a problem, But i do find the rear deck is great for carrying my Audi Sport chair in it's bag. Also the front is perfect for my 12 pack cooler so I'm all set for a fun day out.
It should be illegal to waste so much space in the design of a sports car.
When deciding between a used 993 and a new 996 Porsche, a dealer pointed out there was space to put two bags of clubs in the 996. I found a clean low miles 993 instead.
I do golf. I use my Sunday bag behind the seats. It is tight with the driver on the bottom, but they fit. I have used this bag many times with the R8. I sure surprised people at Cars and Cafe when they saw my clubs on the shelf.
