Turning radio off by default

Hello everyone. I picked up a new 2011 R8 V10 2 weeks ago and I still can't figure out how to configure the radio/cd/mp3 player to be off when the car is started.

I understand I can turn the whole unit off with a long press on the volume button. But if I do that, I lose the GPS and phone system. Is there any way to keep the whole unit on but make it mute by default?

Another question is whether it is possible to setup the car so it is silent when locked / unlocked with the remote.

I believe you can only set the initial turn-on volume. Use the Sound soft-button? This works for me, at least it is not blaring when the car first starts.

You can go into the settings on the DIS and configure the beep on lock and on unlock.

Only solution I've come up with is to press the media button. Of course I don't have anything attached to media. This keeps the radio silent. When head unit comes on it goes to Nav. I wish I knew how to get the navigation to go direct to map but it always defaults to last address used.

Can you put your location in your profile? It may help with answers to your questions as different regions have different specifications.

finally found this thread, any idea how to set 'OFF' by default?
it seems the options we got is just toggling to NAV or softer volume, or am I not reading correctly.

I'd like to know too. It's very annoying to have the radio on each time the car is started. Thanks for any help.

If you dont have the audible alarm confirmation on lock/unlock in DIS you will need to do it in VCDS or VAS-PC.
