Do You Wave?

Granted, R8's are as scarce as hens' teeth so even if you wanted to wave at a passing R8, chances are the opportunity won't present itself very often. But today I was gratified when on Alligator Alley heading across the state from the Gulf Coast to Miami as I passed a late model, gorgeous, black Porsche Turbo Coupe, the driver gave me a big thumbs up to which I reciprocated. I'd also gotten a thumbs up from a pedestrian earlier today as I was first setting out on this trip to Miami, but I expect that from passersby more so than from 911 Turbo owners, so spread good cheer and wave or thumbs up to any car that you respect and admire. Who knows? You might make someone's day.

If I see the trademark LEDs coming towards me, I'll give them a quick flash of the highbeams to say hello. If they're alongside, I'll do the thumbs up.

I've had one pedestrian give me a middle finger for no apparent reason: I was on the other side of the intersection and the moment he saw my car, he stuck up his middle finger and kept that pointed at me until I had passed through the intersection. I actually did a u-turn, pulled up next to him and asked him what his problem was. He said I should get that P-O-S off the f***ing road right before he hopped on a bus. LOL

My post was a bit more upbeat in that it is about getting the wave from an unexpected but respected source whereas the post you cite from 2009 was all about a poor shlub who flashed his lights at another guy in an R8 and was ignored and continues to be rebuffed.
