    Sunglasses for driving

I have generally not worried too much about Sunglasses with brands etc but with the roof down driving in the Spyder I started shopping around for some"high end"glasses to do a better job with the glare and direct sunlight etc.

Bought my first pair of Serengeti with php driving lenses which are SO good and actually adjust to the light available.

For example as dusk approaches... the clarity and shade available is the same as full sunlight.

They are such a cut above all the others that I have previously used that I went a bought a second pair in a different style.

I've also be told that Maui Jim are excellent!

    Any favorites out there..

I recently learned about I.C. Berlin. They have Carl Zeiss lenses. I bought them for usage at the track and now use them daily. Unbreakable...so far. Very light weight too. A bit pricey...400 bucks , but you learn to really appreciate these babies.

I really like my Maui Jims. I have a very light pair, with nice curving coverage.

Can't recommend Maui Jims. I have a pair, and already both lenses have cracks up at the top after a few months of ownership. Also, like 3 days after I bought the pair I went to the beach and laid them down on a towel while I went in the water. When I came back, the frame was slightly warped; I imagine it deformed from the heat or something.

The polarization was pretty good, but still I'd rather find a more durable pair of sunglasses for my lifestyle. Something that can withstand heat and the occasional fall on concrete.

I've been wearing Maui Jim super-light titanium sunglasses for 6 years and they are practically indestructible. Plus, if you scratch a lens, just ship them back and you can get brand new lenses for about $60. The titanium wire rims hardly ever need repair or replacement so with periodic lens replacements you can get a decade out of a pair, I think.

I've been using Icicles for years - great wrap around and peripheral coverage. I recently switch to Ray-Ban - great glasses, better forward clear vision (polarized), but not as good for side coverage.

    Re: Sunglasses for driving

I've been using the same old pair of Ray-Ban Predator III for many years. I'm blind as a bat without my glasses and Ray-Ban will grind glass lenses with your prescription for a reasonable fee (on my third or fourth prescription in the same frames). They do everything I need; fit well, stay in place and give good protection, but are probably pretty dated by today's standards...
