    Hello and a Quick Question

Hi all, just taken the plunge from my C6 RS6 Saloon to an R8 V10 Coupe which i pick up in a couple of days (cant wait!!)

Quick question, the wheels on the car I was looking at were the polished Y spoke ones and the dealer was going to swap them for the normal Y spoke ones on another new car (Spyder)
On doing this they noticed that the rear tyres on the Polished Wheels are 305 profile whilst the normal Y spokes are 295.
I've checked another 2 Coupes with normal Y spokes and they are at 295 as well.
Anyone know why the gloss wheels have a different tyre profile?

That is weird - but looking at the r8 brochure, it shows those 2 different tyre widths there, despite the wheel sizes being identical.

Re: Hello and a Quick Question

Its really bizarre, the dealer actually only noticed when they were in the process of swapping them over.
I've sent them a mail telling them that its fine for Spyder or Coupe to have these sizes as that's what the brochure states.

Still weird that certain wheels have a different profile, it doesnt change the rolling radius so isn't a huge problem but the Audi Dealership decided to errr on the side of caution.

Here in the US, when you option the polished or titanium double spokes, they come in 305s.

only thing I can think of is extra rim protection due to them being highly polished.....

I recently had a similar issue when I ordered non standard (5 arm rotor) wheels for my Spyder. They put 295's on the back, but when I pointed out that the brochure said they should be 305's they changed them for me.

My car came with 305's (on the polished wheels). I stayed with 305's on the HRE's as well. More rubber = better handling/traction.

As did mine. I noticed the car can come from the factory with either 295's or 305's. I would suggest the 305's as you can never go wrong with more rubber.

Re: Hello and a Quick Question

Around the world, the silver/polish wheels (V8 & V10) get the 295's. The titan and full polish wheels always get the 305's, which I am confused by. Same goes for the GT car, which you'd think would always get 305. Go figure...
