Rim ding repair

Hi,

I was just at my local garage to repair some minor dings on my rims. It's the stock ones on the r8 v8 2009 model.

The guy said they could repair each wheel for 150 euros but that he would have to paint the rims in the color that is painted in the middle/inside of the rim since the edges are plain aluminum.

Is this the only way to repair the dings?

I'd prefer the rims to look exactly the way they do now and not have to repaint the edges to.

You need to look for another shop that repairs alloy wheels. There is no reason a refinished wheel should look any different than the other original wheels.

I was told that it's impossible for them to fix the "poly" and that you needed some special machine for this that would cost 1 mil. Has anyone on here ever done any ding repairs on their r8 rims?

Typically, damage is repaired and the wheel is repainted. This is an easy repair for a competent shop.

Are the guys just lazy if they do not want to mask the wheel when they repaint. They tell me they will have to paint the whole rim in one solid color?

Found some places that specialize in alu wheel repairs that could pickup and deliver the rims after repair is done.

Just curious, whats the price of the stock r8 v8 2009 model rims?
