    Question R8 gear shifts

Hi. Just recently bought a white 2009 R-Tronic and loving the ride!! It is truly an amazing piece of German technology and keeps me smiling

Am still in the first few days so not entirely familiar yet but one of the things I noticed was the car slightly moves (to the right I think) when shifting at high revs and got a little concerned so thought I would share this for some feedback before going to the dealership.

Can't say I've ever noticed that - sounds like some kind of torque steer effect.

If you were going in a perfectly straight line that shouldn't happen. If so, you may need to get the alignment or kinematic toe setting checked.

    Re: R8 gear shifts

I've experienced it before (not all the time, but a few times). Its because you have so much power being output during your shift. That happened on my Gallardo, Audi R8, and slightly in my Murcielago as well. Nothing to worry about, it actually makes it a bit more fun!

    Enjoy it & Be safe!

+1 on the straight line comment, there should be very little, or no movement. However, even in a slight bend, the car will wiggle. That's part of the fun.

    Re: R8 gear shifts

The only time I noticed this was at the track shifting from third gear to fourth gear. I just assumed their was a great deal of torque. One of my instructors even commented on it.

    Re: R8 gear shifts

If you're getting torque steer it seems to me that too much power is being sent to the front wheels, something that should be adjustable by Audi.

I experience this a lot when I totally floor the car from a standing start, now I just floor it from a rolling start

    Re: R8 gear shifts

Thanks for your responses! When I slightly ease off on the accelerator as I'm shifting, the torque steer effect goes away; a temporary solution! However it seems that some alignment/adjustment has to be made at Audi since it doesn't sound like that should happen when in a straight line
