    Popping The Engine Lid

Why is it I can open the front bonnet to the trunk with one push of a button but to open the engine lid I have to turn on the key? Anyone have any idea why and is that normal?

Good question, I've been wondering about that myself. It seems to me the worst possible time to pop the hatch is when the ignition is on.

My 2009 doesn't require the ignition to be on when releasing the engine cover.

Same here ... 2009, engine cover just pops up without a key in the car.

Hmmm. I wonder why some require the key to be in the ignition and turned to On and others are hard-wired and work w/o the ignition? Maybe my dealer will change that for me.

my 08 had the lever under the dash and popped manually. The 11 has moved to a button behind the driver seat on the side wall and now requires power. Very odd!

My 09 has the button behind the driver's seat but doesn't require the ignition to be on.

My 2010 has button behind drivers seat, but DOES require ignition to be on.
So..... it looks like 2010 and newer models require ignition to be turned to ON position.
