Yellow R8 spotted in Ft. Lauderdale, FL!

On vacation and just spotted one! Is that anyone from this forum?

From what I've been told, there are 2 yellow R8s in Florida, one with black blades and one with matching yellow blades. If it was the yellow/yellow car, it was undoubtedly this guy:



He did a track event at Road Atlanta last summer, and so we hung out a bit. As I remember, he does not actively post here, but does occasionally visit to read. I didn't get his contact info.

How would you find how much of each color R8 there exists in a state

Well, this is a special case - at least according to the guy that owned that yellow/yellow. He told me that when the R8 was first released into the US, his dealership in FL ordered the 2 yellow R8s. When they arrived, the color listed on the sticker was "Porsche Yellow". The dealer freaked, saying he could not sell an Audi with the Porsche name on the sticker, and the dealer complained so loudly to Audi that Audi stopped offering yellow as an available standard color here in the USA. So he said that these 2 cars are actually the only 2 yellow cars in the entire USA.

I don't know for certain he is correct, but I sure haven't seen any other yellow cars here, and yellow is not an option for us US buyers.

So that's the story. Guess it's true.

I'm pretty sure you can order any color, worldwide, including Audi's Imola Yellow and Porsche's Speed Yellow, through Audi Exclusive. I was all set to order Imola but chickened out. I have seen one of the Speed Yellow R8s has been for sale regularly. I know Suncoast had it for a while. I always thought a R8 in Lamborghini's Verde Ithaca, black interior with contrasting stitching would look killer!

Saw the Imola yellow one for sale on Ebay a while back. Looked much better w/ the c.f. blades i.m.o. I too considered it, but was worried about resale..

I only got a good look from the front and then from the back and it had black accents so pretty sure it was not the one pictured. Personally, wasn't a big fan of the yellow R8.

agree, not what the designers intended. looks odd to me every time i see it. The yellow always is an issue on resale...the 3 RS6s in the US in yellow have changed hands slooooooowly a half dozen times. Not easy. They look great and one owner got full taxi stickers on the car as a proper joke that he even got 'hired' once. Its already a fast noticeable car (on any Audi) so its just too much to pull the trigger even if you do like the look.
