EPC Warning Light - Cant get above 6,500 RPM

    Hi Guys

The EPC warning light has just come on and today I noticed that the car will not go above 6,500 RPM instead of letting you taking it closer to the red line.
Has anyone else experienced this? Thankfully I have some warranty left and will get Audi to investigate.

PS: I have done the exhaust mod that leaves the valves open. This wont affect my warranty will it?

    Best Regards
    Mark

I had the same problem and I just got it fixed at the dealer. It is caused by the exhaust mod leaving the valves open. This causes the ECU to dump extra fuel into the chambers. It believes it is in warm up mode and triggers the ECU fault. I have a stasis exhaust and my installer failed to hook up the hoses for the exhaust valve. For a few months it ran fine and then I began seeing the EPC light. It cost me $425 in labor costs for the dealer to connect the hoses. The car has been running fine and no further EPC issues.
My dealer did not give me any warranty issues but this is not covered by Audi.... YOU are on your own....

My friend can reconnect the hoses in 5 minutes. I will tell them not to do anything and have him do that instead, but loads of people have done this valve mod and not had a problem. Thanks for the help mate.

Audi just called and problem is nothing to do with the exhaust valves and have ordered replacements parts, will get car back tomorrow. Got me wondering tho if its dangerous leaving these exhausts valves open..

it sounds like there are 2 different things going on in this thread - the stock exhaust valve mod which should have the vacuum lines blocked off as a part of it (which means no vacuum gets to the actual valves, leaving them open) and a replacement exhaust that wasn't hooked up to block off the vacuum lines which then gets flagged by the computer.

Yes it does mate, I am guessing what I have done leaving the exhaust valves open cannot damage the car?

I hope not since I had mine done, and seriously doubt it causes problems because it is one of the most common mods people make on high-performance cars, not just R8s, and this is the first time I've heard any inkling that it could cause issues months later. Worst case: hook em up again. Takes a half hour at most and can be done by anyone but if you don't want to be bothered (like me), pay someone $100 to do it. To have to pay $400+ is absurd!

Thats reassuring then mate. Tell me about it, $400 is crazy. My friend Danko did mine and it took him literally 5 minutes
