Parking sensors range?

Hi all. Although I haven't received my V10, due in May, I'm wondering about the range of parking sensors.

When parallel parking, do the sensors react to the higher street curb, or only to a car, either behind, or in front?

Mine sense the curb when parking straight in. Don't do much parallel parking so don't recall, but the backup camera and its guide lines do a good job of keeping you off the curbs.
