Maybe not stupid, but not much respect. They (I'm assuming) figure that people who own such cars will not object to being cheated by the service departement.
Just make sure whoever you have change it knows there are 3 oil drains. This is a good reason to get Audi Care with 4 free oil changes. Since dealer would not give anything off on car was able to get tossed in for free, all should at least try for that
It's well documented on here for lifting, draining, filling, etc etc.
I guess this owner, as have many others, earnt his Spyder by
not being cheated in life, why do Audi think they can get away with it?
True! And that is just on the engine oil pan. There are additional drains on the oil tank.
You must also add ~$50USD for the special tool needed to loosen and tighten the rear oil plug. Joe's Garage won't have this one in his toolbox! (Note: this is on the V8. the V10 may be different.)

Am now curios as to what dealers charge for oil change? Is the amount above pretty standard or have others found different prices? And does anyone know if Audi gives any wiggle room on when you can get free oil change under Audi Care? My last change was May 25, 2010 and put about 6,000 miles on since. Started driving my car for the first time this season the other day and would rather not wait the full year to get changed.
Hard to imagine that oil changes are any cheaper than in the U.S.A.

I was quoted $220 @ my local Audi dealer.

$220 isn't unreasonable for an oil change considering that Audi has to use a special lift to get under the car and also the tech has to go through an R8 certification. That's a lot less expensive than what my friends that have owned Ferrari's and Lambo's pay. Of course, if you can do it yourself that would be better but I'm totally ignorant when it comes to fixing things.
You will also get different quotes if you ask for oil change vs. oil service which includes checking other things and topping off all fluid levels.
