    Repairable R8 ???

Here's and R8, damaged yet apparently repairable, looking at it in the pics I can't see that it economical to fix, looks like 3 quarters of the panels need replacing. Priced at £37k, the car would probably sell with no damage or history for £57k which means there's £20k breathing space.

Is it really worth £37k. I can only imagine it's up for sale because it's a right off from the insurance company and the problem is that it will be recorded historically as a write off which will impact the value even if fixed.

    Re: Repairable R8 ???

seems far too close to the cost of a straight car of that age for it to make sense given the likely repair costs and impact of it always having the question mark hanging over it of how well the repairs have been done.

    CMS prices are silly.

I wouldn't touch anything like a R8 would cost too much to fix. Its going to have loads of damage to the bottom esp due to it would have to be moved by forklift. I would break it would parts if it was me.
I recently brought a CAT D M5 for a track car and the thing is shot. I would Never again I have most of the skills i.e welding, metal work and full workshop. Can't get the part used and new bmw parts are crazy. Its the same story with one of my friends he brought a Cat D GTR R35 ended up breaking it for parts as it would have cost a lot more than a clean car of its age.
