New owner intro + a few random questions

    Hi Folks,

Picked up my 2010 R8 V10 a few weeks ago - but have only been able to rack up a handful of days of driving due to the weather here in Toronto. Finally had a full weekend of car use and as a result have a few questions (apologies in advance for longish post)

I spent of bunch of time lurking on this forum before making my purchase and found the insight and advice of the members extraordinarily helpful.

I'm coming to this car from a 997 C2, so the difference in power stunning...and this car is truly spectacular in every way...can't say enough great things about it.

Ok, here are a few my questions:

    1) TMC interreptions
I've turned TMC info off in the settings but I still continue to have my music interrupted with beeps to notify me of Bluetooth being on. This happens multiple times while driving and I can't figure out how to turn it off. Anyone else have this issue?

    2) Strange track listings of files on SD card
I have an SD card with MP3 files that have been converted from iTunes. When they originally load up the track listings look fine. But when playing or after they have been played the track name is replaced with a strange symbol (looks like a "b" and "P" overlayed). See attached image.

    3) Retro-fitting Ipod interface
I thought I would be fine the SD card, but based on the above thinking about replacing the CD changer. From a quick search, it seems that retrofitting the Ipod interface is fairly straightforward in a 2010. Any thing I'm missing?

    4) Rear spoiler deployment
My rear spoiler occasional stayed deployed after slowing down/stopping. I wasn't able to use the console button to get it back down - I tried holding down the button but it didn't work as I expected it to. Anyone ideas?

    [Caveat: I'm a 2009 V8 guy.]

    1) I don't even have a TMC setting. Still, the phone shouldn't be connecting and disconnecting while driving. I get one tone when I start the car and the phone connects, and one tone when I turn off the car and the phone disconnects. Sounds like a version of the 2010 iPhone gremlin described by many; perhaps you should delete your call history from the phone and see if that helps.

Items 2) and 4) don't seem normal as it seems we would have heard about them from other owners by now.

    I can't speak to 3).

In respect of item 4 I suggest you get up to (forget exactly) 50mph? and press the button whilst the spoiler is up and then it will go down and should stay down.

Re: item #2, I get a whole slough of specious track names displayed when I use an SD card. If I try to select one, I get an "invalid track" message and it scrolls down until it finds a valid file. No clue what causes this or how to make it not happen. Been very disappointed with how SD cards work in general, and for random play in particular, so have gone with satellite radio and an ipod for when I want my own music.

Possible #1: If you're getting the ding sound as the Bluetooth connects and disconnects and it seems to cycle, disconnect your phone from the car's Bluetooth, remove your car from your phone's Bluetooth options, turn off your phone, pull the battery and wait about 3-5 minutes.

Fire up your phone and then reinstall the car into your phone and re-establish the connection.

If it still cycles connection on and off, you have a bad Bluetooth module and it needs to be replaced.

Plan on arguing with your Service Mangler about this as they tend not to believe what's going on. They'll also have to call the R8 service consulate and verify that they'll be allowed to replace the module (hence the Service Mangler being so stodgy about changing out the module).

    TCM? What's that?

#4. That only happpens if you manually deployed the rear spoiler. To get it back into its lowered position, the car has to be in motion at approximately 10 to 15 mph as you press the button (one firm press will do; no need to hold it down).
