Will pick up Spyder R 8 next week..some questions

Few days from picking up R 8 spyder. Talked to the salesman and asked him to show me a few things before I pick up the car. (few more days yet before the snow melts). There were some questions he was not sure of. Can anyone answer them
1-Where can I tow the car from in the rear if I need to.I know it won't happen often, but would like to know?
2-He said there was no break in procedure. I thought that it would be prudent to keep the revs below 4000 for at least 1000 KM. Anyone know?
3- I noticed a lot of guys don't like the orignal tires on the car. What are the major reasons.
4-My car is black and was wondering how the car would look if I put a partial silver wrap on the curved part of the door that goes into the rear air intake. Anyone seen any pics of something similar
    Thanks

    1. There is only a tow point in the front of the coupe, and I assume this is the same on the spyder.

    2. Salesmen! There is a break in procedure in the owner's manual which covers the first 1,500 miles. Search this forum, the procedure has been posted. (When you find the thread, please post the link here for others with the same question - thanks!)

Thanks Desperado, I did a few searches, break in period, first 1500 miles, new car break in, all with no luck. I'm new on the site and maybe am not aware on how to search stuff out properly. If you find anything would greatly appreciate.
So on the rear of the car, if ever stuck, where is best place to pull in the rear...thanks..

Good luck keeping it below 4k revs for 600 miles. The first 50 miles are probably the most important. Change engine speeds often (don't run it in steady state). Don't bang it off the limiter for as many miles past 500 as you can stand. I'll bet there are few folks on this forum who legitimately made it to 1,500 miles before going nuts.

The manual does describe a 1,500 mile break in period of gentle driving, but a lot of folks, myself included, believe a little more aggressive break in is better. I limited myself to 5k rpm for 500 miles, and didn't hit the limiter before 1,000. Gloves have been off since.

You should see how some of the salesmen drive them.

plus when audi take them for a drive test I'm sure they don't drive at 30mph
you don't really need to red the red line when on the road I found.

You can definitely take it above 4,000 rpm during the break-in period. Just do so progressively, moving up and down the gears (and through the rev range) as smoothly as you can, and DEFINITELY NO WOT (wide open throttle) when the engine and the engine oil temp is still cold.

There's a black Spyder (w/ red leather interior) at the dealership that I go to; it looks very nice. Congratulations.

Mine is black on black, but all the R 8's look so cool. I have a Porsche Turbo and was thinking of selling it, but decided to keep it as I am worried that the R 8 draws just too much attention. With a Porshe turbo, you get a few looks but you can go about your business in a relative fashion without getting the movie star looks. Anxious to see what happens....

Re: Will pick up Spyder R 8 next week..some questions

The R8 coupe draws so much attention already. It's unbelievable. I was at a local exotic car show a year or so ago, and in attendance were a host of Ferraris and Lamborghinis, plus my humble little Audi R8. There were three prizes: Best Ferrari, Best Lamborghini, and People's Choice. Guess which car won the "People's Choice" trophy?

I can only imagine how self-conscious a Spyder-owner must feel when driving around with the top down.

Black R8s are very stealth, as long as you don't put a loud exhaust in it you can roll around relatively unnoticed.
