Stupid Problem. HELP!

I've just bought a used V8 in white with all the works but the only problem on the car is one of the buttons is missing from the satnav/radio unit. I went to Audi to try n get it sorted and they said they don't do the buttons seperately you have to buy the entire system (£2500) so i tried to get it under warrenty but that fell through. What do I do a button missing off your otherwise perfect supercar is rediculously annoying any ideas what i can do?

are the buttons the same as on any other audi/vw models where there might be breakers out there?

Which button?

From what I understand, you can order the large knob in the middle of the unit, but that's the only one. Makes no sense that you can't get the others. I wanted a couple for a side project but was denied.

I thought I just saw a post yesterday of a car being parted out, though if I recall correctly it was in the Middle East and it might not have been a recent post but worth the search, nonetheless...

Its the CAR button on the satnav i'm looking into breakers now but I think its very unlikely i'll get one i'm going to write to HQ Germany and kick up a fuss see what that turns up.

nic, you should definitely not buy a new head unit, however if all else fails, you can lurk around ebay and buy a used or non working/broken satnav unit for much less than a new unit. It may be a while until a broken one shows up, but used ones are being sold all the time.

Another thing to consider is that your car probably has a head unit from 2009 or older (what's your car's make year?) cosmetically the satnav head units are all the same throughout the years but some of us choose to upgrade to 2010 or newer head units in order to get a few benefits such as higher capacity SD card support and faster menu/nav system (newer CPU).

Nic,
You should post a where to buy head unit from people that changed out the old nav for the new. I would also contact OEMPLUS. They would know which customers made the change. You could also search this site for people that upgraded to the new unit.

Try giving Hamid at Satnav Systems a call on 020 3141 4111. My dealership used him to upgrade my '09 Nav to the latest version. I spoke with him before they did they work and he seems like a knowledgable guy.

I would go to another dealer and just say it just popped off and try it again under warranty. I had de-laminating on the radio buttons in my RS6...two dealers said no the third said ok and replaced the whole unit under warranty.
