How long is the wait?

Hello, new to the board. Just ordered r8 v8 spyder ibis white/red leather/polished wheels. Also doing tubi exhaust w/o valves. It will be a 2012 model and slotted as an April build. The dealer expects it in late July. How long is the average build time? Also, any recommendations on lowering kits? Not familiar with anything by audi, considering I have been a porsche guy for the last 6 years. Thanks..

Welcome! Check out the FAQ sticky in the General Discussion forum, it will point you to info on build dates and times.
Many are using the lowering springs by H&R and reporting excellent results. There are also coilover kits available BUT you would lose the Audi Magnetic
Ride (adaptive suspension). The AMR is a real benefit for anything but a dedicated track car.
There are also lifts available for dealing with drive approaches and speed bumps on lowered cars, I will let those with direct experience give you the details.

I second Desprado's comments on the H&R springs. There are costlier solutions, but it would be a shame to lose the Magnetic Ride functionality.

Do you have an actual order number for the production slot in April? I'm trying to get my order in on a 2012 v10 spyder and my Dealer is telling me that he did not receive any slots for April and hopes that he can place the order in May. Thanks.

Good luck with that. The 2012 ordering isn't even open yet, and doubt we'll see any 2012 before Oct at the earliest. R8 orders take between 3 months (if you happen to select the same options as one in the production queue) and a year (from what other have said). Best to just settle in and enjoy the wait, and not looking at the calendar.

I ordered my 2011 V8 on Dec 28th, 2010 and was told it will arrive at my dealer on June 20th of 2011.

As of now, this is the only info I have on my order. Six months of wait, half way there.

Thankyou you for the response. I placed my original order March 3, 2011. That was slotted as a 2011 model, however, 2 weeks later they emailed and state they were no longer building 2011 cars and I would have a 2012 model, with an April slot build time. I will contact the dealer later this week to make sure I have the build #. AMR must be kept intact, I will definitely look into H&R. My only real debate is the exhaust. Going with tubi, however, not sure if the neighbors will complain. Already have complaints with 997 GT3 with sharkwerks bypass. I hate the wait, my GT3 took almost 9 months.

I don't know where HB is, but it's possible your dealer has no allocation, and is holding your order until the 2012 order window opens up.

This is me as well - Dec 30th Order (the date it was submitted into Audi; Late April build; Mid June delivery. It's been confirmed by Audi and another dealer (checked during STaSIS ordering) so I have a high confidence that this is all accurate.

I'm pretty sure I'll be getting a 2011 model as well.
