Ok, we all know it's a limited production of only 333 units, with 90 coming to the U.S.
I obtained an order guide and pricing list from my local dealer today.
First off, what do you all think this car will become in the future?
~I.e. Will this car turn out to be something that could actually be somewhat of an investment? I mean this is the first GT car to enter the states, and only 90 at that!
For instance, the Ford GT was produced for 2005 and 2006 (over 4,000 units) model year, and stickered at right about 150k. Still today, these cars with 4-8000 miles are still bringing 140-150k!!!
I am a bit surprised that many of the options on the R8 GT are not actually standard!! Carbon engine compartment ($4,400) is an option!?!?!?!? Comes standard in the V10. And it's listed as an Audi exclusive option, which means you have to pay the $1,200 just to get it!
~Also curious to this..... If one were to not opt for the Ceramic brakes due to never even considering it for track use, do you think that could "hurt" the possible value in the future?
Enhanced leather comes in at $8,380. Does a race inspired GT car really need this option? Due to the nature of this car, I would think the ceramic brakes would be the better investment at $9,900
~Would it be a mistake, if one were to order a "stripped" down version of the GT? I mean it is a race inspired car after all. I believe they shed roughly 186 lbs off this car from the standard V10, so..... the less options, the less weight, right?
In the end, my dealer would obviously like to have someone order one of these cars, and they supposedly have been offered 3 allotments. They mentioned that Audi Germany, is considering to send purchasing customers to Germany (on their dime) to actually race and learn how to drive the GT on a designated track! That alone might just push someone over the edge!![]()
