    Loud Audio Screech Sound

I have a loud, intermittent, audio screech sound that comes through the speakers when I turn off the motor. I only hear it once a month or so, so I cannot reproduce it consistently.

I did try and search this, but didn't come up with anything.

Anyone else experience anything like this?

Assuming you aren't listening to Ke$ha, I think the annoying screech you're hearing may be the result of an electrical short in your stereo system. The same thing happened to me last year with my B&O system, and it turned out to be a shorted speaker wire and/or amplifier, which proceeded to melt several of the speakers themselves. It took several weeks to get the service team to take me seriously and get to the bottom of it, and even then, Audi was defiant. They finally replaced my amp and several speakers. Problem solved.

    Try that issue first.

The only loud screeching I hear is when I told my wife I am planning on spending another 5 or 6 grand to add a couple of decibels to the exhaust after just recently spending a lot more than that on all the others mods I've sunk into this car!

LOL! My wife doesn't like riding in car (too low), so I just don't tell her about mods.

I will tell them that, thanks. I'm not to confident they will find anything.

I am bringing it in tomorrow for that, and I have a bump steer issue (at least that is what I think it is). At +50 mph, when ever I go over a bump, the steering wheel judders back and forth.

It is not a wheel balance issue since I just got my new wheels, and I am getting the judder with both sets.

Fortunately our cars have little black boxes, It recorded a problem with my amplifier and is being replaced.

That's great that they decided to rely on the black box instead of ignoring you. Unfortunately, it always takes three visits to my dealership, per problem. On the first two visits, I'm always greeted with their two favorite phrases "According to Audi, it's operating within normal manufacturer's specs" and/or "could not duplicate."

IMHO the problem is that there aren't any experienced techs at Audi dealerships that can repair the R8. They are certified but mostly what they do is routine service and maintenance. They have no experience actually fixing the car. My dealership had to fly someone from out of state twice to correct problems.

Contrast this with Porsche service where you have guys with 20+ years fixing every possible problem on a 911.

This isn't likely to get better with time because there just aren't a lot of r8's out there. I guess we take the good with the bad.

Having had two Vipers and experiencing the same problem the other side of the pond, its probably the same trouble as you have in the USA, lack of cars equals lack of experience.

I know that in the Uk my dealer has two techs and both fight over the R8's with problems, they want to learn, and see other faults rather than routine servicing.

In the UK we had about 2 Viper Techs, good job one was in my dealership.
