I'm a new R8 owner and noticed that when accelerating quickly in 2nd gear, I've had the fuel cut out at 6k rpm's. Is this normal? Appreciate the help/advice and apologies if this is covered elsewhere.

Could you be hitting the the soft rev limiter? Only other issue I know of is dead spot lower in RPM's. Also are you from Boston?
I believe there is a rev limiter at around 6,000 RPM when the engine is cold? I think I have bumped this before but I really try to let the engine get up to full operating temperature before burying the fun pedal.

+2. Yup, just the computer keeping you from killing the motor when it's not up to temp. Should stop happening after a few minutes (depending on ambient temps.)
Until your OIL temperature gauge is in the operating range, don't be on the throttle. While it's probably not hurting anything (Audi's done a stellar job of making the car protect itself), it's definitely not doing anything good to it.
The engine really needs to be up to temp before it's pushed at all. It's generally about 7-10 minutes of driving before the oil temp starts coming into the "good range".

Even in sunny South Florida, if my engine hasn't been running for quite awhile, I experience the same above 6K RPMs, so be patient with your car and don't push it until she's well warned up.

Thanks for the above. Seems to have stopped after a more complete warm-up.
And yes, I live and drive in Boston
