Recently replaced my V8 Coupe with a V10 Spyder. Wow the engine is sublime. I loved the V8 but this one is pretty cool. I miss the "fuel economy" and the luggage shelf but I'm definitely enjoying the new sound!

Disconnect the exhaust valves and enjoy it even more!

I have one coming in a few weeks. I have heard mixed reviews actually. I have only driven the V10 and not the v8 so cant comment.
But the articles that I have read seem to have a pro and con track record. Good is the extra power obviously. The sound is not a pro in some cases.
The con seems to be from the articles... the extra weight making the car understeer more than it already does. Also the V8 I guess has a bad ass growl that is lost with the higher pitch V10.
Pro for the V10 is there is a bundle of options that come with it that makes the V10 only 10k more if you consider all the other stuff you get.
Lambo name is attached to the V10 to.

Fuel economy? You don't buy a V10 for fuel economy.
Sound? No the V10 does not sound like a pickup truck.
Understeer? The loud pedal brings the tail out no problem.
Some folks like the crude thunder of an American V8. Others prefer the sublime concert of an inline 6, V12, or the Auto Union's V10. (I prefer to think of the R8 as an Auto Union.
If you think Corvettes are wonderful, you would probably prefer the V8. If you think E-Type Jags are wonderful. You will probably prefer the V10. I'm talking about sound quality, not performance.
With regard to performance, in stock form, the V8 is a finesse car, and the V10 is a point and shoot car.
With regard to sound, the V10 definitely wants more volume. It is too quiet. I've done the valve trick, but the difference is very subtle. There will be an aftermarket exhaust in my future.
Now, now... You are beginning to sound like me when I get my tounge firmly-in-cheek and let loose on the unsuspecting!![]()
I do agree on the lack of volume for the V10. At track events everyone looks up when the R8 V8 goes by, but the V10 barely elicits a glance.

---WARNING! Poster never takes anything seriously. No really, I mean it.---
"the V10 does not sound like a pickup truck"
That's made my day!
I reckon the V10's a lot louder than the V8! My Std V8 was that quiet I put a Miltek on
her to make it sound right! The std exhaust is huuuuge and kills all the noise.
The V10 screams like a modern race car it doesn't "Thunder" like a "Pickup truck" LOL!
I think the owners who complain about their exhaust not being loud enough all must drive Coupes because my Spyder with top down (even top up with front & rear windows open puts out the sweetest music! The only time it is too quiet is at idle. Are there any V10 Spyder owners out there who still want louder and have disabled their valves? I'm not changing my exhaust unless I drive someone else's Spyder and fall in love with their aftermarket exhaust because if it ain't broke, don't fix it is my motto.
