    Glad I waited :)

Here's the latest news out of Audi...

"An R8 facelift comes later this year. The optical change is a new grille with angled-off corners. The significant mechanical change is a shift to an eight-speed S-Tronic twin-clutch trans, replacing the clunky single-clutch used now."

    More to follow.

Everything I have read says 2014 for the re-fresh. This would make more sense since a new tranny now would undermind sales of the GT using the current one. That is if the new DC would be applicable in the GT.

Anyone else think that describing the current transmission as clunky is a bit harsh?

As the poster above said, you're looking at a 2+ year wait before a facelift, minimum. I'm sure not waiting that long.

Yea, I'm sorry, I can't see them being able to pull off a change to an s-Tronic that quickly. And like NFS said, it would make zero sense with current GT sales.

It would be a slap in the face to this guy if on the day he takes delivery of the first GT, Audi announces changes to the transmission and the shape.

An eight speed really? Why not jump the competition and make it nine? Oh, and by the way Mr. Existing Customer, the transmission on your $150,000 car (essentially the same one as on the even more expensive Lambo) is "clunky." Manufacturers generally don't denigrate their own existing product, they only highlight "improvements."

That quote couldn't possibly have come from Audi.

So that's how the term "Old clunker" came to be.

I, for one, will love it when the s-tronic becomes available on the R8. I am, however, skeptical that it would be this year.

Like the Gallardo, I'm betting any cosmetic changes to the R8 will be very minimal. Gallardo has been in production since 04, and barely have any exterior changes done till 08.
