    Cant decide.

Hi, new to this forun today.
At this prescent time i am driving a 553hp Mitsubishi Evo 8.
Had a test drive in a 997 Turbo s with the 7 speed paddle shift. Very nice car. Easy to drive straight out the box and goes very well. Felt like it does thing a bit too easy........Got a drive next week of a R8 v10 manual. I love the sound and im hoping i will be drawn toward this rather than the turbo. If i like it im after a V10 spyder in Red or White.
    Cheers

Well.... you're asking R8 owners on a R8 specific forum what to choose!
I think you know the answer. lol
Ask the same on a Porsche forum, and you're likely to get the opposite of course.
Good luck in your decision regardless!

Well, I'll go against the grain and say that your Evo is one heck of a machine and (assuming you've addressed the oil starvation quirk) is simply a monster on the track. One of my instructors tracks his and I am very, very impressed with the Evo 8. You might want to think about keeping it!!!

The V10 manual will be more involving than the PDK, but a lot different than the manual Evo. It will corner much flatter, and there will be much less drama at the limit.

Ummm, or maybe you don't track your cars? My comments assume you do...

Highly modified Evos dominate at the track, and hold some very fast lap times. Very impressive cars. Even more impressive that the GTR. (Nissan) But for looks, comfort, and fun right out of the box, the R8 wins hands down.

I would also bet the R8's safety beats the Evo.

I've driven Subaru STi and Mitsubishi Evos and can't help but thinking, each time I stepped in, that these cars are nothing but coke cans with wheels.

Long ago I was involved in an accident where I was sitting in the passenger seat of a Lancer (not quite an Evo but a similar body), the car hit a tree, at relatively low speed, on my side. The damage was incredible, had my feet been where they were supposed to be rather than on the dash, they'd be trapped in that area as it collapsed completely.

Great and fun cars, but safety wise, probably far from great.

If I were you....I'd go with the V10 White Spyder! Sure the 997 is nice but Im getting a little tired of that body style and the spyder is one of the best looking cars Audi has ever made.

rather than a 997.2 TT he should be waiting to drive the 991 S with powerkit, which according to some sources laps the nurbugring faster than the 997.2 TT PDK. the 991 should make its debut in a few months in Frankfurt at the IAA and cost less than the TT. this is all porsche-related, of course.

M3R8...The Evo I admired at the track could probably be dropped from an airplane and not crush the interior. It was a tricked out to the max, stripped out, COMPLETELY state of the art, shipped from Japan, with pit crew of at least 10 persons. This domination occurred at a very tight track. All other Evos don't even get a second glance.(from me) Tin cans for sure. Has anyone seen an R8 in CAMO ??? (military, camoflage)

Assume your interest in a Spyder means you're not thinking of a track day car. If you are, the coupe is probably a better choice.

Can't go wrong with a Turbo S, or an R8. Both great machines.

If you want to see yourself coming and going, get the Porsche because they are as common as dirt. If you want a car that will inspire people to stop and stare and take pictures, get the R8 Spyder. Needless to say, I chose the latter because of its exclusivity and uniqueness and passed on the Porsche despite its awesome acceleration. If it's just bragging rights and amazing straight line acceleration you want, not much beats the Turbo S. Either way, you're going to be one happy dude!
