    Bluetooth Problem

I can't for the life of me figure out how to connect my Iphone via Bluetooth. I do not have the cell phone package I gather. I put in the bluetooth pin number 1234 and set the Iphone to discover devices and it does nothing. The MMI manual says I need the cell phone package as far as I can tell. Is this true?

I thought the PIN was 0000, but don't quote me on that. Easy enough to try anyway.

I don't know about packages, but on my navigation display I go to "Tel", turn on the Bluetooth on the phone, the phone then sees "Audi UHV xxxx" as a bluetooth device, I choose to pair with it and am then displayed a 4 digit pin number on the phone, I then enter that pin on the navigation display unit and it's done, as far as I remember that's the procedure.

Remember also that you only can pair within the first five minutes of turning on the car.

It may also vary by region. It is recommended to update your profile with your location, as mentioned in the forums FAQ.

To be clear, you DO need the bluetooth package ; but you don't need the cellphone package, if by that you mean the fixed cradle into which you plug physical adapters which are specific to a particular model of phone.

I recall setting my own personal 4 digit code into the car's bluetooth then go to the iphone bluetooth and it will look for the R8 bluetooth as discoverable. When it tries to pair it will ask for the code. A long as this code matches your personal code you just placed in the R8, the phones can now pair. I just did this on my new '11 R8

That sounds familiar. I think my dealer may have told me they recommended using 0000 because it was the most reliable for pairing.

I believe it was the same process for me. I think you designate your own unique 4 digit code.

    Re: Bluetooth Problem

Speaking of BT problems using the iPhone, does anyone else have an issue of people on the other line not being able to hear you? When I use it, most people I speak to cannot hear me well. Most times, I have to disconnect, and pick up the phone to speak on it briefly before telling them I have to call them back when I'm parked.

I have the older iPhone 3G.
