Build Sticker Location / Option Info

I've been lurking on the board for a couple of weeks and have decided to take the plunge into pre-owned R8 ownership. I've found the information provided here invaluable and thought I'd reach out to the community with my question. A few of the cars I've looked at do not have the original window sticker which makes determining exact options difficult. Through what I've learned here and Audi's factory site I'm confident I can come close but would love to know exactly how the car came equipped.

Is there a "build sticker" anywhere on the car where I can get option codes, or is there some other way of getting this information? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Take the vin number to a dealer. He will have the exact build specifications in his computer system.

Thanks for the response, MN. I thought that would be one way to get the info but calling the dealer each time I look at a car might not be practical, particularly when I may be buying the car from a competitor. My 911 had a sticker on the inside of the front truck lid that listed option codes and just thought Audi may have something similar.

You will find a sticker with option codes and some information about the car on the fuse box hatch.

Remove the foot carpet piece from the passenger side, pull the fuse box open, you'll see a big white sticker glued to the inside of that hatch.

Why not just ask the seller for the window sticker? I don't know anyone that does not keep their sticker. If they don't have it make them get it from the dealer before you purchase. The dealer can print it from the vin.

I realize the window sticker would have that info but see my comment earlier about a few owners not having it. And as far as not knowing anyone who doesn't keep it, well I can now introduce you to a few in the Southeast. The point of the exercise was trying to find a quick way to discern the information on the spot.
