2013 R8 refresh?

I spoke with an Audi US Factory Representative recently regarding any facelifts coming to the R8. He told me model year 2013 will have some minor changes, but the changes will not significantly change the vehicle.

Has anyone else heard this information?

Motor Trend claims these changes will be coming by end of this year. That's not to say the 2013 couldn't be out in Jan '12.

changes will probably be limited to options becoming standard, i.e. white gauges, certain colors, a new chrome knob here or there on the nav system, and maybe wheel changes. the longer one waits for anewer car the shorther the amount of time they'll have it before the new R8 in 2014-15.

sounds a bit early. R8 GT is 2012 model with no N.A. del till sept 2011. new gallardo isn't out yet and hasn't been seen testing yet (though it is almost there). 2014 CY is the expected debut of the new R8 from what i hear thus far. it will be a 2015 MY car.

If Road & Track has this right I'm seriously going to consider canceling my 2012 5.2 R-tronic Spyder scheduled to be built the week of June 13th!

good catch mstams. i'd be surprised based on what i have been told by my contacts, but you never know. i personally think this is more of a test mule for the next gen R8.

because the car's platform/structure is darn near perfect as is the next gen will be more of an internal drivetrain/engine update/body panel composition update than a complete overhaul. this is what i have been told and seems quite logical. with time passing and all kinds of new cars coming out it has been easy to forget how ahead of its time this car is in its current generation. it is for this reason that audi could easily hide the next car under the skin of the current one.
